Welcome to Litchfield County Dispatch
Dial 9-1-1 for all emergencies
Saving One Of Our Own- On Sunday morning, February 1, 2015, Dispatcher Trainee Thomas Kenney was having a snack when Emergency Telecommunicator Dispatcher, Melissa Lindgren noticed that he had started to choke. At that moment, Supervisor Adam Sevelowitz jumped up from his dispatch station, got behind Tom and began the Heimlich maneuver to help dislodge the object. Immediately, ETD Lindgren went to retrieve an AED. ETD’s Martin Rinko and Jen Pratt were standing by to start EMS services if necessary, all while continuing to man the telephones and radios for the county. Thankfully, the Heimlich was all it took. After two thrusts, Tom began breathing normally.
Due to the teams’ quick actions, an incident that could have been life threatening resulted in just a bump in the road for these everyday heroes.
